Humane Society: Black Cat Adoptions On Hold Until After Halloween
A local humane society placed a hold on black cat adoptions until after Halloween, the group said Monday.
The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Los Angeles takes similar action every Halloween in an effort to head off possible harm to the felines, which are associated with bringing bad luck.
"... Many people have ulterior motives when adopting black cats." said SPCALA president Madeline Bernstein. "It is a shame that all the myths and superstitions about black cats have made them targets, and it is simply not safe to allow these adoptions around this holiday."
In the past, Halloween-related mistreatment of black cats has ranged from using them as party props to sacrificing them during satanic rituals, according to the society.

Supermarket giant Asda has banned teenagers from buying eggs, traditionally used as "trick or treat" missiles, in the run-up to Halloween.
The store says it has warned staff to be extra vigilant in spotting youths buying eggs.
It says the decision was taken following reports of egg-related vandalism last Halloween.
"If a 15-year-old goes into one of our stores and buys a pint of milk, a loaf of bread and a packet of eggs then that seems normal."
A spokesman for Tesco said the company was operating a "common sense policy" where members of staff could refuse to sell eggs to groups of teenagers.
Each year, police forces across the UK are inundated with complaints over anti-social "trick or treat" incidents in the run-up to Halloween.
This week, police forces will start a seasonal crackdown urging shopkeepers not to sell eggs, flour or paint to teenagers.
In June, a teenager nicknamed "The Egg Man" was banned from throwing eggs under an anti-social behavior order (Asbo).
Blackpool Magistrates banned the 17-year-old from entering Kirkham, Lancashire, at night because of the nuisance caused by his egg-throwing antics.

A proposition
The carving of Jack-O-Lanterns originated from the tradition of carving the faces of damned souls into hollowed out turnips. A candle was placed inside the turnips making the faces glow; the turnips were then placed on doorsteps to ward off evil spirits. Jack-O-Lanterns today are hollowed out pumpkins and are one of the most popular symbols of Halloween.

What's up. Just checkin in on everyone. Yes, I have been living in my own world for a while now. My new girlfriend is awsome so I have been spending a lot of time with her and just have not had a chance to post much.
School is going well too. I have Logic on Mondays and Technical Writing on Thursdays. Both are night classes. On top of that I do still work full time, so as you could imagine my time is limited.
