Has everyone seen it yet? I loved it. New York gets attacked and you get to follow a couple of stupid kids doing dumb things for no good reason. Best horror movie since the Descent! There's already a sequel in the works.

By the way, the Statue of Liberty gets it's ass kicked! And after beating Vigo the Carpathian, too!

Couple of points that will make sense when you see the movie:
1. No one can run that fast in high heels.

2. Apparently bloodloss makes you fast too. I will keep that in mind for my next marathon.

3. Nobody likes a smartass in the dark.

So this morning at work , I threw my back out.

It started with a tiny cramp in between my shoulder blades (I think I did a chicken impersonation wrong, or maybe too good) Then, about 3 minutes later, I bent over to put some papers in a filing cabinet. POW! Now my lower back is in knots.

It figures. I think it's psycho semantic from the news that e301 is passing on.

so it brings me to this idea of a last hurrah .

Maaaaaybe it might be fun to say goodbye and ,at least for me , get a bit of closure by having a favorite moments of e301, Everyone could mention their most memorable blog or two. a bit of a walk down e301 lane if you will.

Eternal Sonata - stuff to pass the time

For those of you as excited about this piece of gaming glory as i am, you may like to see the official Eternal Sonata site. Unlike most promotional game sites, there is actually stuff to do here.

You'll also notice an ad for the first pre-order bonus i've run across for this game: a free XBOX faceplate. Not too shabby. Of course, you'll have to go through EB/GameStop.

The ES demo was fairly satisfying. It's obviously gorgeous. I like the battle style, and i killed watermelon-looking critters. Can't complain.

I kinda wish the US game title was Trusty Bell, too. Deliciously silly.

I finally got the email.

The Square Enix online store is finally opening August 20th for orders to the US. You can browse part of the site now to see all the spiffy stuff that's been available to Japan for some time. Soon we'll be able to buy a whole fleet of special figures and toys related to Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, etc.

A po' sistah's way of keeping the 360 from catching fire. I decided I wasn't paying $50 or whatever it is for the extra cooling system that doesn't seem to help at any rate.

So I went and picked up an "in box" for your office desk. It's a wire rack, basically.

Then, I flipped it upside down to make a nifty little shelf... like so.

Finally, you take all the wires (if you don't have to stretch them out to reach a particular location) and shove them all under the little shelf. The 360 goes on top and it stays cool as a cucumber.

Just for the record... I've had mine on for over 4 hours at a time and it's never once crashed or overheated, etc.

Hope that saves you some money :-)

Today i bought myself an XBOX 360, and i would like to report that i did not burst into flames. I have not hooked the system up yet, so i cannot be sure that it will not start a fire.

I have a variety of reasons for finally biting the bullet. First of all, i have been feeling to the itch to buy something, ANYTHING. Also, a handful of RPGs and many interesting games like Overlord (DEMENTED PIKMIN!) and Viva Pinata (PSYCHEDELIC SIMLIFE!) have made their way into the testosterone-smeared XBOX library. Today, the 360 experienced a small price drop across the board, specifically $40 off for the premium (premium meaning non-shitty core) system. I also am fond of the color green.

Today at lunch i went over to Circuit City--i know, I KNOW--for my new toy. I took a deep breath and attempted to purchase their advertised bundle: a premium system with a free copy of Rockstar's Table Tennis included. I have no interest in the game because it will be coming out for Wii, and who the hell wants to play non-waggle ping pong in this day and age? I do, however, like the idea of selling the game to ease my financial burden. Yada yada, half an hour later i did manage to leave the store with the bundle and a copy of Overlord and Picross DS (props to CC for having them both in stock).

Actually, this is the yada: In case you didn't know, CC has that old Service Merchandise (check local listings) setup for larger items. You pay for the item, hoping the cashier puts the right one in because you don't have those handy little tickets (he didn't enter it correctly the first time, though it isn't his fault because all the XBOX SKUs were identically labeled "GAME SYSTEM" in the database *thumbs up*). Then you bring your receipt to Customer Service and hope the girl doesn't just throw away your proof and treat you like you're Julianne Moore in The Forgotten. So i did as i was told, and after some debate and a 20 minute wait, i left with what i sought. Nobody noticed how late i was returning to the office. *wipes sweat from brow*

My ~~additional gripes~~ concerns:

Did you realize the 360 doesn't have built-in wifi? Keep in mind the cheapass Wii does, as well as the PS3. It's not entirely unreasonable that the original 360, due to its relative age, is without wifi. However, the brand new "elite" model for $450 (as of today) still doesn't have it. Instead, you are supposed to buy an adapter that retails for a whopping $85-$100. Most similar adapters for other products are under $50. Not to mention the adapter has bad reviews in regards to speed and connectivity. So i'll be having some fun running 30 feet of cable under my floor. All this so i can download stuff like Geometry Wars (which is also coming out for the Wii now... shit).
Red ring of death, anyone? I'm actually optimistic about this. Either my newer system won't have this problem or it will be remedied by the new 3-year warranty and M$'s newly updated replacement and repair service. New! It's still an unpleasant thing to fear a crash more fatal than a Windows95 blue screen on hardware that costs more than actual computers do. One very unscientific theory is that you should plug your 360 directly into a wall outlet rather than a power strip. Unless the thing comes with a 5 ft power cable, i dunno if i can do that. Opinions?

Could you tell i don't have anything else going on this week? Boredom is better than problems, i suppose.
